Iran will retaliate if hit -- Nov. 10, 2004
Iran threatened on Monday to strike back at Israel or any other country that attacked its nuclear facilities
Iranian officials have also warned they can strike back at Israel with its medium-range Shahab-3 missile, which can also hit U.S. military bases in the Gulf.
Zolqadr denied Iran was developing nuclear weapons, saying the Islamic state preferred to rely on a volunteer militia force, which he said numbered 10 million, to defend the country.

Iran believed to already have nuclear ability -- June 1, 2005
All this, if true, alters completely the Middle East and world strategic equation. For now the United States troops in Iraq and Southern Europe are under the threat of Iranian nuclear attack. All of the Middle East and most importantly Israel is under the Iranian nuclear threat. There is also the likelihood that, should this report be fully verified, a number of other nations will rush to go nuclear. Former American Secretary-of – State Henry Kissinger has envisaged the acquisition of nuclear weapons by Iran as leading to an exponential increase in the threat of nuclear disaster.
The fact that Iran has most likely deceived the world again is no surprise

Russia, Iran to sign nuclear deal this summer -- May 27, 2004
The document must be signed before the end of the summer for Bushehr's first 1,000-megawatt reactor to go on-stream in 2005. The plant was originally supposed to start up in 2003.
Washington has branded Iran part of an "axis of evil" of states seeking illegal arms and also fears Iran would use Bushehr as a cover for the transfer of other sensitive nuclear technology.

Iran, which sits on the world's second largest gas reserves after Russia,
also denies the U.S. allegations. It says it needs nuclear energy to meet booming demand for electricity and keep oil and gas reserves for export.
Once the protocol is signed, Russia will ship fuel to Iran to start up the reactor. Spent fuel will be sent back to a giant storage facility in Siberia after roughly a decade of use.
An official from a nuclear fuel plant in Siberia was quoted as saying that up to 168 nuclear fuel units would be immediately dispatched to Bushehr after the signing to start up the reactor.

Iran considers witholding oil
... April 2-2002
[ Iran is not an Arab nation , but it is Moslem. Iran is "Persia" in the Magog war ]
If they decide to use oil as a weapon certainly Iran will consider it. It will be effective if all Muslim countries would take such a decision," he said on the sidelines of an Organisation of the Islamic Conference meeting on terrorism.
Arab oil producers, who account for half of world supplies, have not used the oil card since the 1973 crisis, despite repeated calls by Iraq and others to do so.

Iran may cut off oil supply at Straits of Hormuz ( Gulf of Oman ) March 4, 2005
If they do, we will have hyper-inflation at the grocery store, long gas lines etc. ( 1973 all over again )
About 40 percent of the world's crude oil shipments passes through the two-mile wide channel of the strategic Straits of Hormuz. Iranian forces are deployed at the head of the channel. Oman and the United Arab Emirates are located on the other side.
Teheran could easily block the Straits of Hormuz and use its missiles to strike tankers and GCC oil facilities, according to the new edition of Geostrategy-Direct.com.
Within weeks, the rest of the world would be starving for oil and the global economy could be in danger.

Catholic Chaldean Archbishop killed in Mosul -- March 13, 2008
( Ed: Note the amount of generic terms in this article )
" The world’s press services are reporting on the death of the kidnapped Catholic Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul. The murder of the Archbishop by religious extremists ( Ed: rather than saying "radical Muslims" ) is truly indicative of the need for escalated religious, political and diplomatic actions ( Ed: totally generic ) between all faiths, sects and allegiances of this troubled area of the world. It appears there is a marked rise of anti-Catholic insurgency ( Ed: make that anti-Christian " infidels" ) in the Islamic dominated countries of the Middle East. Iraqi oil as a weapon .... April 2-2002 (Russia to benefit)
Iraq pumps out 200,000 barrels of oil a day and is the fifth-largest producer of oil for the United States despite sanctions that allow Iraq to sell only enough oil to pay for humanitarian and medical relief for its citizens.
If ... [Ed: 2005 :" If Iraq" ] were to succeed in such a push, the impact could devastate the U.S. economy. Oil prices would skyrocket, gas lines would return and President Bush could imagine a future like that of Jimmy Carter, whose presidency sank in the midst of a 1979 oil crisis.
Markets, however, do fear a repeat of the economically devastating 1970's gas lines when OPEC imposed an oil embargo on the United States because of U.S. support for Israel during the Middle East conflicts in 1973.

Of particular concern is the newly laid, buried fiber optics cable system that is linking together far-flung nodes of the air defense system, allowing the Iraqis to improve their targeting against coalition aircraft by tracking them across the sky and passing off coordinates and radar signatures.
"When you start to lay in communications underground, you change the nature of your tactical and operational level communication," Martin said

U.S. European Command enforces the northern no-fly zone, largely by flying from Incirlik, Turkey. U.S. Central Command enforces the southern no-fly zone.
While a war with Iraq would be run by Central Command, European Command would coordinate many combat and support aircraft and services; in Afghanistan, it provided nearly all the humanitarian relief and continues to provide most of the supplies to Central Command's troops. In the Persian Gulf War, U.S. Air Forces Europe contributed more than 180 aircraft and 5,400 people to the battle in Iraq.

3. SYRIA

Israel Heads For War With Syria
---March 11, 2005
Israel's military has been preparing for the increasing prospect of a war with Syria in a confrontation expected to include Iran and Hizbullah.

Northern Command said a weakened Syria, under pressure from the United States to withdraw from Lebanon, was likely to approve an Iranian-Hizbullah campaign against Israel.

"We might have to fight those countries, which could drive them back a dozen years," Maj. Gen. Benny Gantz, chief of Northern Command, said. "We can drive Lebanon and Syria 50 years back. It's an option."

Gantz told the LIC-2005 conference on Wednesday that Hizbullah -- backed by Iran and Syria -- has become a strategic threat to Israel. He cited the 15,000 missiles and rockets deployed by Hizbullah along the Lebanese border with Israel and the Shi'ite organization's increasing support of Palestinian insurgency cells in the West Bank

Russia to supply Syria with long range missiles -- Jan. 13, 2005

Israel’s Channel Two TV also said Russia planned to sell Syria an unspecified number of SA-18 shoulder-fired missiles, which could threaten Israeli aircraft over Syria and southern Lebanon and be passed to any of the Syrian-backed terror groups

- Sept 19-2002 (CBN)
If it wanted to, Syria could offer the council some interesting intelligence on international security, since Damascus hosts many of the world's worst terrorist groups. Ten are Palestinian groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihad, who are arming suicide bombers in Israel. Others are Lebanese groups like Hezbollah and Amal, who have been attacking Israel's northern border and have kidnapped or killed scores of Americans.
Other images show bunkers and launchers for two brigades of Scud missiles. This force is designed for a massive first-strike salvo. If all the Scuds in Syria were launched, there would be enough to target each major city in Israel with up to a dozen missiles each.

US Soldiers stationed in Jordan--March 28, 2003
Then there is the military base at Jafr, 50 miles away in the desert, where locals say they have seen hundreds of US soldiers arrive in the last few months, plus trucks carrying tanks and armoured vehicles.
It is an open secret that small teams of US, and possibly British, special forces are operating in western Iraq out of Jordan.
Out at the Jafr military base, Blackhawk helicopters could be seen flying in

The Jordanian government has admitted there are 6,000 US troops here, but says they are only here to protect Jordan from Iraqi missile attack and train Jordanian troops.
But reporters have seen US army Jeeps speeding towards the Iraqi border. If Ms abu Tayi's claim about the tanks is true, it would raise new questions about how heavily involved this front is likely to get.
The possibility that American soldiers are in the base at Jafr is certainly infuriating the people of Maan, which is a problem for the Jordanian authorities. While the Jordanian capital, Amman, is a sleepy, peaceful place, Maan has been the most restive city in the country for decades. In 1984 the late King Hussein had to come here personally to calm protests. Last week, when protests against the war broke out all over Jordan, Maan's were by far the most violent.

US Special Forces in Jordan--
July 4-2002
Washington has developed military cooperation with Amman for years as part of its regional strategy, and there have been several indications in recent months that Jordan might become a base for U.S. military operations against Iraq.
Russian military intelligence sources, as well as sources in Syria, say U.S. Special Forces are already in the country.

The United States has slowly built up military cooperation with Jordan over the last several years with an eye toward a second Iraqi campaign. Starting in the late 1990s, the United States gave the Jordanian air force 16 F-16s as part of a $215 million arms transfer package that Washington promised Amman in 1996, after the government signed its peace treaty with Israel.
The United States military also conducts exercises regularly with the Jordanian armed forces. In March, a detachment from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MEU, held a 10-day exercise called Infinite Anvil in Jordan. Involving a reported 100 Marines and sailors,

The U.S. forces could be based at the Muafaq Salti Air Base in Azraq, 50 miles east of Amman on the road to Baghdad, or the King Faisal air base, with supplies and support coming from ships in Aqaba.

totally smash the PA, in order to show the Arab world that we have understood the message and that we are ready for the next war, and to uproot their confidence that they will defeat us.  This is a zero-sum game:  Every concession or show of defeatism by Israel is an Arab victory, and every show of Israeli deterrence is a victory for us - showing the Arab world that it's not worth its while to war with us.  How ironic it is that the world's superpower is standing by us, yet we are not utilizing this fact sufficiently."

[Regarding the Egyptian threat, Dr. Stav told Arutz-7 three months ago that Prime Minister Sharon and Foreign Minister Peres were to blame for not trying to stop Egypt's preparations for war with Israel.  "Egypt is one of the poorest nations in the world," he said, "yet it spends 20% of its budget on re-arming.  It has one of the largest armies in the world, with 450,000 soldiers and another 400,000 in auxiliary frameworks, and is outfitted with some of the most modern weaponry.  It has no viable enemies anywhere else, and therefore the conclusion is that this army is being built up to fight a war against Israel.  They announce this openly:

[Egyptian Defense Minister] Tantawi said recently that the army is preparing for the fight with the 'Zionist enemy' . Egypt stands at the center of the campaign to de-legitimize Israel diplomatically, as we saw [at the anti-racism conference] in Durban. What happened in Durban was planned two weeks beforehand in Cairo.  In addition, Egypt stands behind the campaign of Arab terrorism in Israel today [which] is designed to damage Israel as much as possible in order to make the coming war against Israel that much easier.  What Egypt is worried about is that Israel may seriously strike out at the Palestinian Authority, which would ruin the long-range Egyptian plan."]--Arutz 7, March 13-2002

Middle East Newsline reports that Egypt has completed a major ground military exercise near the Suez Canal.  The exercise was conducted by the Egyptian Third Army and consisted of live fire by infantry and land platforms.  The last stage of the exercise began on Wednesday.  The official Egyptian news agency, MENA, said the exercise was meant to train combat skills of the infantry.  The Third Army exercise included tanks, armored personnel carriers, artillery and anti-tank units.  The army was also provided air support in an exercise meant to simulate a ground offensive

Egypt to control waters up to Ashkelon -- Aug. 27, 2005
A second unpublished clause will place within range of Egyptian air force surveillance Israel’s big air forces bases in the Negev and its armored and ground forces’ deployment around the evacuated Gaza Strip

Egyptian border guardsmen are ranged on their side of the Rafah border ready to cross over upon the protocol’s signature. For Israel, these concessions signify the end of the Sinai Peninsula’s demilitarization, one of the most valuable defense assets the Begin government attained in return for withdrawing from Sinai under the 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty.
[ Ed: Will this bring Jimmy Carter back into the equation? Time wil tell ]

Our exclusive sources learn that Israel is also willing to let Egypt build a new 300-meter naval pier for six 300-ton naval ships on the shore of Rafah, the town divided between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. The craft are roughly the same size as Israel’s “Storm” missile vessels. Command and storage structures will be built on the wharf.

It is a little-known fact that the Egypt has one of the largest and strongest navies in the Arab world; it is considered by experts to be superior to the Israeli navy.
Ships from Lebanon or other hostile countries will be free to put into Gaza port without undergoing Israeli inspection of their passengers and cargos. The Egyptian navy will be in place for blocking any attempt by an Israeli vessel to inspect or interdict a suspect terrorist vessel entering Gaza waters

Under another secret clause, Egypt’s Gaza border force will be provided with a fleet of 8 military helicopters - not just light reconnaissance craft as claimed by Sharon and Mofaz. The helicopters will carry missiles and sophisticated surveillance instruments. Their deployment along the 14-km Philadelphi strip means the helicopters will be placed at 1.75 km intervals along the route.

Israel approves of Egyptian forces at Eastern Sinai -- Dec. 4, 2004
"Israel has approved in principle the deployment of Egyptian special forces, heavy weapons and armor in eastern Sinai.
Israeli officials said the government of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has agreed to an Egyptian proposal for the deployment of 750 border guard troops in eastern Sinai. They said the troops would be equipped with armored combat vehicles, medium- to heavy weapons and would patrol the Israeli-Egyptian as well as the Egyptian-Gaza border.
Under the 1979 Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty, Egypt could deploy a limited number of border guards in eastern Sinai. The Egyptian border guards could not be equipped with anything other than light weapons.

US Troops Needed ... April 2- 2002
The MFO was set up by Egypt, Israel and the U.S. to monitor the 1978 Camp David peace accord. The force patrols the Sinai, a triangle of desert, which Egypt lost to Israel in the 1967 war and regained via a U.S.-brokered peace treaty with Israel in 1979. Israel withdrew from the Sinai three years after the treaty with Egypt. The MFO, which flies a distinctive orange flag, was then fielded to ensure the peace.
