The Battle for Jerusalem begins -- Oct. 8, 2007
The Arabic Al Quds Al-Arabiya newspaper reported Monday morning that Olmert has now come to an agreement with Jordan that Arabs in eastern Jerusalem will be granted Jordanian citizenship. The plan would leave Jerusalem's Muslim holy sites under the control of the Hashemite kingdom, according to the report
Vice Prime Minister Chaim Ramon, the Prime Minister's close aide and friend, however, has been pushing for the division of Jerusalem.  Ramon has been promoting his own plan to hand half of the city over to the Palestinian Authority (PA), not to Jordan

National Union Knesset Member Tzvi Hendel contended that placing control over the Temple Mount under Jordanian sovereignty is nothing less than national suicide.
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has continued to up the ante in demands before the November 26th summit, insisting that a final agreement be spelled out to include all of Judea, Samaria and Gaza as part of a new Arab state, with Jerusalem as its capital.

" The swelling of Jordan " -- Oct. 8, 2007 ... having control without saying "control"
The plan calls for Israel, the United States and the entire international community to recognize the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as the sole legitimate representative of the Arabs of Judea and Samaria.  Israel will assume full sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, while Jordan grants citizenship to the Arabs living there. Israel and Jordan will cooperate in coordinating the running of local affairs.
MK Rabbi Elon, who served twice as Tourism Minister and Dean of Yeshivat Beit Orot, will present the plan on Wednesday [ Oct. 10, 2007 ] to the foreign press, with a special emphasis on the role he expects the US to play in his plan.  The program, which can be viewed at
www.hayozma.org,
has been translated into English, Arabic, Russian, German, Spanish and French.
* Regional stability. Elon's plan takes into account the entire Middle East, and not just Israeli-Palestinian relations.  "Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and the U.S. will together build a strategic framework by which to stop the Islamic axis,

Will the Temple Mount giveAway be next ? -- Aug. 20, 2007

(IsraelNN.com) Arab representatives who are negotiating an agreement with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office have made it clear that they will not accept any final peace deal with Israel unless the Jewish State forfeits the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site.
According to a report in the daily newspaper Yediot Acharonot, Olmert is willing to discuss joint Israeli-Arab control over the Temple Mount compound...
Besides the Temple Mount, other issues on the table reportedly include the division of united Jerusalem and permanent borders between Israel and the PA
Peres -- ( Ed: wheeler and dealer)
Last week saw the publication of reports that newly-installed President Shimon Peres has quietly drafted a plan for the Jewish State to evacuate and transfer to the PA nearly the entire area of Judea and Samaria, along with several Arab-Israeli cities located within pre-1967 Israel.
Peres presented his initiative to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and to top Abbas aides soon after he took office as President last month.

President Peres, Israel's most veteran politician, has a long history of covert deal-making. His arch-rival in the Labor party, former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, famously called Peres "an indefatigable subversive" in his autobiography. Peres received the Nobel Prize for a deal he and others worked out with arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat in 1993 – the Oslo Accords – which led to the establishment of the Palestinian Authority and an ongoing terror war in which thousands of Israelis, including a high proportion of women and children, have been killed or maimed.

U.S. $ for Arab state in Israel ; US weapons to Saudi Arabia & Egypt -- Aug. 16, 2007

IsraelNN.com) Israel and the United States signed a huge weapons aid agreement Thursday morning as part of the American strategy to create a new
Arab state in Judea and Samaria
before American President George W. Bush leaves office in January, 2009.
The deal offers Israel $30 billion in armaments over the next 10 years, but the Americans also are offering Saudi Arabia $20 billion in weapons and Egypt is to receive arms worth more than $10 billion.
Several Congressmen have objected to the aid out of fears that the Arab states will turn their weapons against Israel in the future

"Listen Today to the Lord" (Tzaytu hayom la'adon). The rest of the sheet contains the following tips to missionary soldiers: "The army is one of the best places to spread the message. When you're stuck for ten hours in a jeep in the streets of Ramallah, conversations about G-d, death and other spiritual matters have to come up.  I want to encourage you: Use these opportunities that the army gives you, on guard duty, long trips, and the like."

Jimmy Carter to mediate between Hamas and Fatah -- July 25, 2007
The Palestinian News Agency Ma'an reported that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh met with Scott Custer, West Bank director of the Carter Center, in Haniyeh's Gaza Strip office. Custer told Haniyeh that Carter, a Democrat, was willing to mediate between the factions. Haniyeh okayed Carter's offer, the report said.

(The Carter Center announced in May that it is "reinvigorating its presence in the Palestinian Territories in support of peace for Israel, justice for the Palestinians, and the emergence of a viable, democratic Palestinian state."
Carter headed the international observer mission that validated last year's Palestinian elections, which brought Hamas to power. He was also an observer in the first round of Palestinian elections in 1996 and again in the 2005 elections.

The former president's 2006 book, "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid," created an uproar in the American Jewish and pro-Israel community, which charged that it was not only pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli -- but inaccurate

Israelis vs. Israelis -- July 25, 2007 brother against brother
" A ruling recently published by Kiryat Arba Rabbi Dov Lior, who heads the Yesha Rabbi’s Council, addressed IDF soldiers and police assigned to prevent Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel. It reads:
“Any direct or indirect participation of soldiers in trying to prevent Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel opposes the worldview of our holy Torah. Every person who is concerned with the Nation of Israel and the Land of Israel must not lend a hand, in any manner, to the implementation of such missions.”
The rabbi ended with advice adapted from Proverbs ( 24:6 ): “In order to comply with both the command of the Master of the World and one’s military obligations, ‘By way of deception [ Ed: does not say "deception"; a better word would be "intrigue" ] you shall wage war "

Jordanian-Palestinian confederation -- June 22, 2007 .. "the swelling of Jordan " ?
The Palestinians and Jordanians are considering a plan to link the West Bank to Jordan politically in a confederation that would boost both parties and make them economically far more stable, The Media Line has learned. Israel is also party to the discussion with politicians from government and opposition parties backing the idea.
The vast majority of Jordanians are Palestinians and creating a confederation with a Palestine would mean the Hashemites and the native Jordanian would become an even smaller percentage of the overall population.
Indeed, at least one senior Israeli politician is suggesting that Gaza should return to its pre-1967 status as a part of Egypt. That is the idea of former Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shalom, who these days is the number two in the hawkish Likud party, which is currently expected to win the next general election.

Jerusalem as Egypt ( Rev. 11:8 )
June 22, 2007
Ed: Unfortunately Benjamin Netanyahu wants to bring Egyptian forces into Israel to "protect" Gaza and he also wants to bring Jordanian forces to "protect" Yesha. Utter folly ...

"MK Uri Ariel (National Union) said, "We have already made the mistake of thinking there is a substitute for the IDF's presence.  Wherever the IDF is, things are relatively quiet; and wherever the IDF has left, they shoot at us from there."

Moshe Feiglin, chairman of the Likud Party's Manhigut Yehudit (Jewish Leadership) faction, responded, "It is very sad that Netanyahu is reviving, via the back door, the Oslo illusion that Palestinian terrorists should protect the State of Israel against other Palestinian terrorists

Netanyahu also said that Egypt must be more forceful in manning its border with Gaza , where tons of arms and explosives have been smuggled in during the past two years. Shortly after Israel quit Gaza in the summer of 2005, it also left the Philadelphi Route on the southern Gaza border in the hands of Egyptian and European Union monitors."

Peres won't ask for Pollards' pardon --- June 7, 2007
" His ability to act so ruthlessly, to destroy the life of one who has faithfully served the State and sabotage rescue efforts; and his capacity for maintaining this immoral stance without remorse for more than two decades, is terrifying in its implications if this man should become president of the State of Israel... MKs who vote for Peres know that they are being complicit in ... signing a death sentence for me – one that Shimon Peres issued against me 22 years ago which is still in effect to this very day."

TEL AVIV, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - Jordan has proposed a plan for a Palestinian-Jordanian confederation, which calls for ending the occupation of Palestinian lands and their transfer under Amman's control, the Israeli daily Maariv reported Friday.

Yeshua -- true Prince of Peace , King of the Universe, Messiah -- not allowed in Israel --
May 7, 2007
" The two other members of the Rabbinate committee are Rabbi Yitzchak Peretz, Chief Rabbi of Raanana, and Be'er Sheva Chief Rabbi Yehuda Deri. The committee, together with Chief Rabbis Yona Metzger and Shlomo Amar, ruled that the Woman to Woman Conference is "in opposition to Torah thought and law," and that the events organized by the
Knesset Christian Caucus, Bridges for Peace and the International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem
"strive to create a partnership between famous Christian preachers and leaders of organizations that have worldwide missionary programs to missionize as many Jews as possible...  Events of this nature have been banned in the past by Torah giants throughout the generations, and they are forbidden."

Rabbi Deri explained to Arutz-7, "We note of late the terrible phenomenon of Messianic Jews wreaking havoc and destruction in Israel by trying to bring Jesus as Messiah into Israel. With pleasantness and kindness, they bring Torah, fear of G-d and even Torah commandments - but all with one underlying theme: that Jesus is Messiah. ....
They want to help and support us, but they have the same goals as the
Messianics. They make tremendous efforts and support us all over, and are even more right-wing than we are in some ways, and they help us with Bush, etc. - this is all true, but in the end, they have one goal, and that is Jesus.
We are not on the level of early great Rabbis who were able to take the good and spit out the bad..."

Carter speaks on Israel -- April 13, 2007
"History has shown that progress is possible only if the United States of America assumes its historic role as honest broker between Israel and her enemy," Carter said,
lamenting what he described as a six-year lapse in substantial peace efforts.
"To play that essential role, America must not be seen as in the pocket of either side."

"The American friends of Israel, who demand such subservience, are in many cases sincere and well-intentioned people; I know them," Carter said. "But on this crucial issue, they are tragically mistaken.
Their demands subvert America’s ability to bring to Israel what she most desperately needs, and wants
--
peace and security ( Ed: safety ) within recognized borders."

Meeting on IRAQ
-- April 14, 2007
" EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said in late March that the Quartet hopes to meet with Israel before the summer for the first time. It also wants to engage in talks with Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, he said.
Ferrero-Waldner said the Quartet will "most probably" meet in
Egypt in early May, which may provide that opportunity.

Will Jimmy Carter be an envoy for mideast peace ?

Sure enough, Baker is the most-frequently-mentioned candidate to be a special mediator, especially by those seeking a mediator ready to confront the Israeli leadership. In 2004, candidate John Kerry "said he would consider sending Mr. Carter or Mr. Baker as his personal envoy to make peace between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs."
Shaheen started his political career working for Jimmy Carter, another less-than-probable mediator, and joined him as an election monitor in the Palestinian elections. When he was asked about his plans for the job, his answer also sounded like Carter: "I think there are people who are not being treated very nicely. They want their own freedom." And I don't think he was referring to Israelis.
