During the whole month of Shevat -- Arutz Sheva 2007
The importance of planting a fruit tree in the
Land of Israel is well known and is considered one of the ways in
which to hasten the coming of the
messiah.
It is a sign of the redemption of
the people of Israel when the trees will
again give their fruit, said Chazan

"Tu B'Shvat is considered a day of joy, as well as -
especially since the beginning of modern Zionism - a day of
planting. This date was designated by the Sages as the
"cut-off date" between one agricultural year and
another. The Jerusalem Talmud explains that
this is because most of the year's rains have already fallen by
this date. The choice of date has ramifications on Land of Israel
agricultural laws such as tithing and forbidden fruit of trees
under four years old" Feb. 2006

Tu
B'Shevat literally means the 15th day of the Hebrew month of
Shevat. It is a day honoring the resurgence of life in trees. The
common term used is the "New Year for Trees". It is on
this mid-Winter day that the hardness of winter is past, and the
softness of sap begins to rise through the veins of trees,
tingling them afresh with new life.
As the poet said, "If winter comes can Spring be far
behind?"
Soon will come Song of Solomon Chapter 2:11-13.
This is not resurrection (life from death). This is renewal,
refreshment and rejuvenation (adding life to life). I am come
that they might have LIFE and that they might have it more
abundantly". John 10:10
Trees symbolize man, more than any other symbol in nature. Man is
"planted" in the womb, is born and continues growing in
many stages and seasons
( the "passages" of life).
And in the summers of our stress, we too need replenishment. Our
verve withdraws in the winter of our soul. But when touched by
the powerful regeneration of the Holy Spirit, our innermost being
wells up with life anew.
"He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of
his belly shall flow rivers of living WATER.
But this spake He of the Spirit (Holy Spirit), which they that
believe on Him should receive.
John 7: 38, 39
This is our refreshment in the Spirit, welling up within. We get
that rejuvenation and rest when we spend time in God's Word and
in prayer
(also praying in tongues)
We rise from our prayer closets, ready to face the continual rush
of days and seasons, in the strength of the Lord.
God has honored trees in two very particular ways:
His Son Yeshua Jesus dignified trees forever by dying on one;
and none of us could hold a Bible---God's precious Word---in our
hands were it not for trees.
So they are to be acknowledged for the great gift to mankind that
they are
(Not to be idolatrously worshipped).
"For there is HOPE of a tree, if it be cut down, that it
will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not
cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the
stock thereof die in the ground;
Yet through the scent of WATER it will bud, and bring forth
boughs like a plant."
JOB 14:7-9...also see Daniel Chapter 4
This resurgence of life reminds us that no matter how many times
we have failed---no matter how old we are---we CAN begin again.
"I can do ALL things through Christ who strengtheneth
me"
Philippians 4:13
Note the conversions of Antiochus Epiphanes, Mannasseh,
Nebuchadnezzar and the thief on the cross. They had a resurgence
of grace at the end of their lives. They responded.
"There are no atheists in fox holes".

In North America, the Maple Tree most represents the nourishment
from sap, that rises as the tree rejuvenates for the year. Here
are some interesting websites about this tree:
New York Upper Hudson; Late maple Season-- March 2005
Most began collecting their sap only
within the past week after temperatures climbed
in the lower to mid-40s, said Peter Gregg,
spokesman for the Upper Hudson Maple Producers Association, which
sponsored the event. A good sap flow requires freezing
nights and daytime temperatures from the mid-30s to the low 40s.
New York was the third-largest maple
syrup producer in the nation in 2001 -- the last year for which
figures are available from the Upper Hudson group -- with an
output of 193,000 gallons. The Upper Hudson group represents
about 100 sugarhouses in the region, 12 of which offered tours
Saturday and today.
Maple Valley Farm owner Don Monica, who produced
about 325 gallons of syrup last year, said production has just
started picking up. At his farm, plastic tubing runs from the
trees into large tanks next to the sugar shack; like many modern
producers, he uses a vacuum system that sucks the sap
through a hose, as well as the more traditional buckets that hang
off the trunks. About 40 gallons of sap, which looks like water
when it comes out and tastes slightly sweet, are required to make
1 gallon of syrup.

Of
trees:
"the ax is laid to the root"........ for transformation
Luke 3:9
It is interesting to note that during the last week of this
century and millennium (December 2000), the 'ax' was laid to the
trees of Versailles, France during its worst storm in
centuries..... altering its grounds forever.
(10,000 trees destroyed in France)
This imperial palace was home to Europe's greatest royals, and
the message is clear. Their day has come and gone...their final
hour of anti-christian glory will so likewise perish.
The ax has been laid to the root.
All trees are a sign of prophecy Luke 21: 29
