"The expansion of the application from an  animal to a person
was relatively simple to patent-legally.
This transition is supported by
evolutionist- biology,
where  a human being is classified as a higher mammal,  and thus the problem is solved.
Don Small, vice-president of Hughes Identification Devices stated,
" Let's  define an animal as a mammal, and that settles it.

(Are people in the same category as animals and assets ?) I think not.
Branding by any other name is still
chattel-branding
.
"chattel" = A person considered as an object or thing ( such as a number in a System)
rather than as a person.
Used for another's purpose; expendable; exploitable; a slave.

New Social Security Cards -- May 30, 2005

Ed : And will it have contactless rfid ??
Or will that be unnecessary
because of the required chip in the right hand or forehead ??
"The front of the new card would have the holder's photo and Social Security number.
A machine-readable magnetic stripe on the card's back, like those found on credit cards, would contain a digitized photo and the person's employment eligibility. The card could be swiped through a reader by an employer with its information compared with an employment eligibility database to be maintained by the Homeland Security Department."
Another fear, Rotenberg said, concerns Homeland Security becoming "this mega government agency that decides who gets a drivers' license, who gets a job, who gets on an airplane."
This is the beginning of a much larger surveillance network that the government plans to put together, ostensibly for immigration purposes," warned Timothy Edgar, an American Civil Liberties Union general counsel.

Counterfeiting out of control; G8 must find a solution --- May 13, 2005
It is time for all sectors to unite, to pool resources and knowledge, and to work under one umbrella with governments and enforcement agencies. In recent months, more than
600 companies and organizations from all parts of the world, including
1. Interpol,
2. the World Customs Organization
3. and the World Intellectual Property Organization,
have joined together in
Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy,
a new initiative of the
International Chamber of Commerce

This initiative is coordinating and organizing industry efforts, identifying common messages, creating a central location for knowledge, data and other intelligence, developing information materials and ensuring that lessons learned, good practices and various achievements are shared throughout the business community

The last two Group of 8 summit meetings have recognized the growing need for strong measures to fight piracy and counterfeiting. However, we in the business community have seen little evidence of concrete action. We urge the leaders meeting at the Gleneagles summit in July not only to reiterate the importance of respect for international obligations in the intellectual property field, but also to commit their governments to enforce existing laws against such activity with a new and strong determination.
Business stands ready to assist and support governments to the maximum in the design and execution of vigorous programs to that end ....... (Ed: fascism ) <<< click for definition

VeriSign Payment Services -- Feb. 3, 2005 ( vs. phishing..stealing identities)
Another approach to online fraud that some processors take is to filter all transactions. VeriSign Payment Services, for instance, creates a filter based on a range of information, including such aspects as number of transactions that a card has conducted recently, the number of items in a transaction, the type of item and the dollar amount. It then incorporates information from outside databases such as address verification and other information about the cardholder.

The combination of internal data that VeriSign has developed and external data that others have developed is a powerful weapon, says Trevor Healy, vice president of VeriSign Payment Services, which processes for 125,000 merchants and expects to handle $40 billion in online payments this year. "Your fraud screening is only as good as the fraud that you experience," Healy says. "Our approach harnesses the collective power of the network. Customers get the benefit of operating with the largest payment processor on the Internet. Fraudsters are teaming up to do things together, so we are in essence creating a community effort also

A CASHLESS SOCIETY

Cashless Society gaining -- May 19, 2007
The chip, made by the VeriChip Corporation, is only the size of a grain of rice but can transmit an ID number to a scanner allowing money to be taken from clubbers' bank accounts.
Mr Chase may be an extreme example but he demonstrates a wider point: Britons are rapidly embracing the cashless society. The Association for Payment Clearing Services, the UK industry body, forecasts that in less than a decade fewer than half of all payments will be made by cash.

Workers get paycards instead of paychecks
-- Aug 7, 2005

Now, Payton has gone paperless, becoming one of 1.8 million workers across the country whose paychecks have been replaced by electronic payroll cards.
The cards, which go by names such as the eCash card, are similar to debit cards. Workers can use them to buy groceries, gasoline, assorted retail items and to withdraw cash from ATMs. But instead of drawing money from their personal bank accounts, they're getting their pay from a central fund set up by their employers.
Many employers like the cards because they do away with the cost of printing payroll checks. They also provide an alternative to check cashing and high fees for workers in the 13 million U.S. households without bank accounts

"RFID Contactless Payments" by ABI Research
What about the US Mint ??-- Feb. 22,, 2005
The U.S. Mint and other government-run money factories around the developed world won't be going out of business any time soon. But their product -- cash -- is facing a compelling new threat. It comes in the form of "contactless payment" systems that require a user only to wave a small object [ Editor: like an embedded mark in the right hand ?] - credit card, key ring, cell phone or similar -- near a reader terminal. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies, backed by banking and transaction processing systems, take care of the rest.

Instant debit : No float time for checks-- Sept. 2004
By authorizing substitute checks, Check 21 makes it easier for banks to use electronic imaging for check payments - part of a goal set by Congress in 1987 with the Expedited Funds Availability Act. The act directed the Federal Reserve System to support a payment system that removes the original paper check from the process
This reproduction is called a substitute check and is produced from a digital image of the original check.
Employers say they like it because they don't have to worry about the check clearing through the bank, and they don't have to wait for the bank to reconcile accounts, he said.

Consumers Union, a nonprofit testing and information group, expects the new law will mean more bounced checks, citing industry estimates that show consumers could be bouncing almost 7 million more checks and paying an additional $170 million in fees each month by mid-2005.

Going Cashless -- April 26, 2004

DES MOINES, IOWA -- If that promised day of the cashless society doesn't arrive tomorrow, it won't be for a lack of effort by the folks at Paybytouch. This San Francisco company has devised an electronic payment system that allows consumers to plug credit-card, debit-card, and checking account data into a central computer. Then they shop. When they scoot through the checkout of a participating merchant, they press their finger to an optical scanner that identifies them. There's no plastic card, no paper to sign. All they do is choose how to pay for those goods.

And note this: If the merchandise is put on a credit card, for instance, the consumer can pay it off by transferring money from a bank account that very well could have gotten all its value from an automatic payroll deposit. Nowhere in this chain of transactions has a greenback entered the picture - or a check.
