FREE TO FLY
S.D. Gordon saw a boy carrying a beat-up rusty bird cage
containing several small, miserable birds. Curious, He asked what
the boy was going to do with them.
"I'm going to have some fun with them," he responded.
"But after that?" Dr. Gordon persisted.
" Oh, I have some cats at home, and they like birds,"
said the boy.
Compassion tugged at the minister's heart, and he ask the price
for the birds.
Surprised, the boy blurted:
" Mister, you don't want to buy them.
They're just ugly field birds. They don't sing or anything."
Nevertheless, Dr. Gordon soon made a deal, then opened the cage
and set the poor creatures free.
After showing his church the empty cage and telling them about
it, Dr. Gordon
told another story:
Satan boasted that he had baited a trap and had caught a world
full of people.
" What are you going to do with them ?" Jesus asked.
"I'm going to play with them; make them fight and kill one
another," satan replied.
"And when you get tired of playing with them, then
what?"
" Condemn them," Satan replied. "They're no good
anyway."
Jesus then asked what Satan would take for them
"You can't be serious," the devil responded,
"They would just spit on You. They'd hurt and kill
You," "
How much?" The Lord asked again.
"All your tears and all your blood; that's the price,"
Satan said gleefully.
Jesus paid the price, took the cage, and opened the door.

20. "For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from
righteousness."
21. "What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are
now ashamed? for the
end of those things is death."
22."But
now being made free from sin, and become servants to God,
ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting
life."
23." For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord."
If you are a Christian, take a minute to write out your personal
testimony.
Using a few sentences for each, write out:
A. what your life was like before you trusted Christ,
B. why you decided to trust Him,
C. and how your life has changed since that decision.
Use what you've written when you have the opportunity share your
faith with someone.
If you realize you have never prayed to ask Jesus into your life,
talk to a
minister or an adult you know who is a strong Christian.
If that is not possible begin to read the Book of John, asking for guidance from the
Holy
Spirit.
