Northern Command ready to shoot down airliners--Oct. 2, 2003
The U.S.
military practices at least twice each week for the nightmare
scenario of having to shoot down a civilian airliner hijacked by
terrorists, the commander of forces in North America said
Thursday.
http://www.msnbc.com/news/974865.asp?cp1=1
U.S. Air Force pilots practice weekly and are
psychologically ready to shoot down civilian airliners in any new
attack on America like Sept. 11, the general in charge of
domestic defense said on Thursday.
The chief of the U.S. military's Northern Command also said
better cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration and
other agencies had minimized the risk of downing an innocent
civilian passenger jet.
"We practice it several times a week. Sometimes we
practice three or four times a week -- the connectivity and
having pilots airborne and go through mock exercises," Air
Force Gen. Ralph Eberhart told reporters in an interview.
He said pilots and ground controllers were screened to
make sure they would not refuse an order to shoot down a
suspicious airliner packed with civilians such as the
hijacked jets that crashed into the World Trade Center in New
York, the Pentagon outside Washington and a field in Pennsylvania
on Sept. 11, 2001.

Northcom unfurls new defense era
Northern Command--Peterson Air Force Base
Colorado Springs,Colorado, controls ALL of North America--Oct
4-2002
Northern Command is
responsible for defense and security of a territory including the
48 contiguous states and Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and waters up to
500 miles off the North American coastlines.
"Northern Command - a command whose time has come,"
said Gen. Ralph E. "Ed" Eberhart, an Air Force Academy
graduate who is combatant commander of Northcom and
commander in chief of North American Aerospace Defense Command.
[NORAD]
At Tuesday's ceremony, generals "cased" the colors of
the U.S. Space Command, which left Peterson Air Force Base on
Tuesday and will be folded into the U.S. Strategic Command at
Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska. As many as 500 jobs will go
with the command.

Defense Roll
NorthCom and NORAD --Colorado Springs, Colorado
Some 500 civilian and military workers will be assigned to
Northcom's headquarters at Peterson AFB - roughly the same number
of workers who'll be leaving Colorado Springs when the U.S. Space
Command moves its operations to Nebraska next week.
Air Force Gen. Ralph "Ed" Eberhart, commander of
Northcom, will also head the North American Aerospace Defense
Command, or NORAD, which protects U.S. and Canadian airspace.
Last year, Peterson AFB alone injected $645 million into Colorado
Springs' economy, NORAD spokesman Maj. Ed Thomas said last week.
The Army's nearby Fort Carson accounts for 30 percent of the
local economy and is the second- largest employer in Colorado,
next to the state of Colorado itself.
It's the centerpiece of a larger military realignment, and
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Air Force Gen. Richard
Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have called the
changes among the most sweeping since the unified command was set
up in 1946.
Northcom answers directly to Rumsfeld, not Homeland Security
Director Tom Ridge. And its mission is purely military, even when
it supports civilian tasks.
Northcom's reach covers all of North America and surrounding
waters out to about 500 nautical miles. It also includes the Gulf
of Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Everyone in uniform has taken the oath, which includes the words,
'I will support and defend the constitution of the United States
against all enemies, foreign and domestic,"' said Brig. Gen.
Dave Clary, who commands the
Air Force's homeland security directorate, just one of the many
military units gathering under Northcom's control.

NorthCom handles it
all--Oct 4-2002
We turn to Northern Command to provide that unity."
The Northern Command will direct and coordinate all military
operations against threats on the homeland.
It has the authority to call upon Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine
and Coast Guard forces as needed to guard cities, harbors, air
space and coastline to meet a terrorist threat.
The Northern Command also will work hand in hand with civilian
agencies at federal, state and local levels - from the Federal
Aviation Administration and the FBI to local law-enforcement and
fire departments.
Threats within the United States will be handled by civilian
authorities unless additional or specialized military forces are
needed, said NORTHCOM commander Gen. Ralph Eberhart.

Canadian military planners stationed at Colorado--Sept 26-2002
Officials involved in the discussions say the team of up to 100
senior military planners will be based in Colorado at the
headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defence Command
(NORAD) and the new U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM), which is
responsible for security threats to North America....
He said it is possible, however, that the planning group might be
expanded within a couple of years to include a standing force of
Canadian and U.S. military personnel.....
The group will plan how to co-ordinate a joint response to
nuclear, biological or chemical attacks. It could involve a
military response or the use of biological and nuclear experts.

ALASKA
In apparent contrast to the crazy one-sided disarmament
policy the US has adapted, US officials have been making strange
public pronouncements concerning an accelerated program to deploy
a ballistic missile defense at two sites: Vandenberg AFB,
California, and Fort Greeley, Alaska. Actually, these missile
defense systems, along with US upgrade plans for other new
weapons systems which are projected to come on line by 2007-2010,
play a major role in putting downward pressure on the timeframe
for a Russian attack. Although none of these systems is designed
to be effective against a large-scale Russian preemptive strike,
they do serve the purpose of encouraging Russia to attack while
the US is still largely vulnerable, before it is "too
late." Joel Skousen, World Affairs Brief ---October 3, 2003

from the radio-mirror of the smooth ionospheric F-Layer which
only appears at night. During the daytime the radiation of the
sunlight disrupts the F-layer and the radio signals can only be
broadcast by conduction along the surface of the earth. For
daytime surface conduction, the smooth salty ocean is a much
better conductor than the rough mountains and valleys and variety
of soils over the continents
Marshall Smith :
Based on my measurement of the power increase after
Saturday Feb 17, 2001, as a total effective radiated power of 170
MW, this is completely consistent with the next level of HAARP
construction in the LIRI mode with a design output power of 169
MW.
The new output power is nearly 8 times the old power
output in the old FDP mode. This accounts for the greatly
increased signal reception throughout the
world even during the daytime. And after the
construction is completed for the final FIRI mode with the power
rising to 462 MW,
the signal will probably be easily heard on such receivers as left lower fillings.

Public lockout: Pentagon's Information Control....Dec. 21-2001
But closer to home, sweeping attempts to cut off
defense-related information have gone relatively unnoticed.
Since the Sept. 11 attacks, senior military officials have worked
to prevent uniformed military personnel, Defense Department
employees and even civilian contractors from talking to the press
and to the public.
But within a week, Deputy Defense
Secretary Paul Wolfowitz issued the broadest
injunction yet. In a memo to military and civilian leaders,
Wolfowitz forbade employees of the Department of Defense and
"persons in other organizations that support DOD" to
talk about their work in public spaces, on unsecure telephones,
or via e-mail on commercial networks.
After reminding recipients about existing regulations governing
classified material,
Wolfowitz's memo broke new ground by discouraging the
public discussion of unclassified subjects as well.
Information policies that protect bureaucrats instead
of national security are inappropriate in a democracy, even
one locked in battle with terrorists. If Pentagon officials must
extend the bounds of secrecy during this national emergency, accountability
requires them to set clear limits.
So does credibility, which is essential to
public support. Military officials who would hamper public
scrutiny of the Pentagon risk losing the faith of the citizens
they are attempting to protect.
"People will accept secrecy when the purpose is
well-designed, but when there is any hint of self-serving, it'll
be a disaster," says Steven Aftergood, an analyst with the
Federation of American Scientists
Operation Enduring Freedom should not turn into Operation
Public Lockout.

The
following article boasts about our lying at the top-- Sept. 26,
2001
Howard KURTZ: In a Washington Post story on
Monday, I quoted a former spokesman for the joint chiefs of staff
as saying the military had deliberately floated word,
knowing it would leak to journalists, that a U.S. aircraft
carrier was not heading to the Persian Gulf in 1988, when
in fact it was. This was a clear attempt by the
Pentagon to confuse the enemy with the media serving as an
unwitting conduit. I also quoted a military official as saying it
was likely that the government would lie in what he described as
a war of information. Donald Rumsfeld said yesterday
that he would not lie to the press, but I think before this is
over, we may indeed see some instances of disinformation
at levels below the secretary of defense

Jeremiah 50:36
Journalists limited
More controversial is the media's access to
United States armed forces on the battlefield during a time of
war. Journalists first accompanied U.S. troops into the field in
Afghanistan on November 27, but were then locked in a warehouse
on December 6 so that they could not cover troops injured by a
stray bomb.
After the military's invasion of Grenada in 1983, the military
was much criticized for denying media access until after the
fighting was all over. In response, the chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff formed a commission headed by Major General
Winant Sidle to recommend changes for future coverage. The Sidle
commission proposed that a national media pool be created to
cover operations where full media access was not feasible. This
pool has had limited success.
Beyond politics, it is unclear whether the media
has a First Amendment right of access to the military during a
war. The media does not have an unlimited right to governmental
information and does not have a greater right than the general
public.

An unidentified Navy official told The

to sea only when it expects they'll be needed to care for casualties.
The Comfort, a converted oil tanker, has 1,000 beds and
12 operating rooms, as well as a fully stocked pharmacy,
radiological equipment and CT scan machine. The ship will sail
with a full crew of 61 civilian mariners, but only a skeleton
hospital staff of 225 doctors and nurses, enough to man two of
the ship's operating rooms. That staff would be augmented in
advance of any combat.

From WND mailbag...Jan 29-2002
"There is one aspect of the
sub-dermal tracking chips that could
form the basis of a counter-advertising campaign: They simply
don't work as a deterrent or recovery system for kidnap victims.
The reason they are ineffective is very simple. The signals, both transmission and reception, are blocked by something as simple as aluminum foil. Kidnappers who are aware of the potential use of the devices would need only to transport their captives in a metal van without windows and to keep them in a metal building. Dead victims? wrap them in foil and bury them. It may be possible also to use an electromagnetic device to disable an implant without hurting the bearer. End of the Silicon Guardian Angel.
Now an even more insidious future:
Couple this sub-dermal invasion of privacy with a mandatory
military service for 19-to-25-year olds and we have all of the
young males in the country marked at least during their
period of service and for, in all likelihood, some mandatory
reservist recall period. Young males typically represent the
greatest threat to an existing power structure. Nice to track
them during their rebellious years if you're part of the ruling
oligarchy. It's getting uglier by the day. "

WORLD IGNORING IRANIAN
NUCLEAR THREAT--June 26-2002
Among the elements threatening to destabilize the
Mideast region is an expected US attack on Iraq, the build-up of
nuclear weapons in Iran, Hizbullah's conventional military
arsenal, and Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat,
Israel's Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said.
Once the US focuses on destroying Iraq, Israel
will be one of Iraq's first retaliatory targets,
Ben-Eliezer said, and Iraq has the weapons to do Israel harm.
Israel is working with the US to overcome any damage from such an
attack, Ben-Eliezer said. However, Iran, which borders
Iraq, also has missiles. They can reach almost anywhere in
Israel, most notably the densely-populated center of the country,
Ben-Eliezer said.
Iran will have nuclear capability within three or four years, the
defense minister noted.
"The whole world is sleeping while Iran builds a
core nuclear infrastructure that is going to do something bad to
the interests of the world," Ben-Eliezer added.
Iranian-supported Hizbullah
has grown from a tiny terrorist organization to one that has 10,000
katyushas and hundreds of long-range missiles and rockets. They
are supported by Syria
and are one of the main terror threats today. (Jerusalem

But echoes from last
month's State of the Union address, when Bush said North Korea,
Iran and Iraq seek nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, are
still reverberating in Asia.
The blunt language is fueling fears of a U.S. confrontation with
North Korea.

soldier killed in mock invasion of North Carolina city...Feb 2002
[ Can you imagine the confusion and deaths when foreign troops
are deployed in our cities ??] "What
the office did not know was the soldiers had practiced disarming
police officers in other counties as part of the game -- a
misunderstanding that led to the shooting death of one soldier
and the wounding of another by a police officer Feb. 23.
It was a routine traffic stop to Deputy Randall Butler -- three
men in civilian clothes in a pickup truck, around 2:30 pm on a
rural road.
Butler did not know two of the men were Special Forces
soldiers-in-training participating in a live-action exam with the
help of locals pretending to be citizens and guerillas fighting
in the fictitious "Pineland." The exercise is the
culmination of 16 weeks of training for Special Forces
soldiers."

Iran's Shahib 4 Missile capable of hitting Europe .... May 13-2002
WASHINGTON (AP) - Iran, with an assist from Russia and
other countries, is developing a long-range missile that would
give it the ability to strike NATO countries in Europe, a senior
administration official says.
The Shahab-4 missile would initially have a 1,250-mile range but
anticipated upgrades would allow it to reach Italy, Germany,
Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Greece, according to the
official.
