FEAST
OF TABERNACLES, SUKKOT 5769
"SEASON OF OUR
JOY"
eve of
Monday October 13 through Sunday October 19th, 2008
including Hoshanna Rabbah, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat
Torah
ABIDING IN HIS PRESENCE
"under the
shadow of the Almighty" Psalm 91:1,2
The Feast of Tabernacles
is also called "Sukkot" or "Succcoth".
The gemetria (numerical sum of the letters) for
"succah" is 91...just like Psalm 91.
"The gematria (numerical equivalent) of
the word "succah" is 91. The gematria of the Name of
G-d which we say as "Adon-ai" is 65. That Name, which
we do not pronounce the way it is written, consists of the
letters "yud"
and "heh" and
"vav" and
"heh," which
add up to 26. Adding this Name the way it is spoken to the way it
is written, comes to 91."

Sukkot is the Hebrew word for
"booths" or temporary shelters. These booths, or tents,
were first erected in the wilderness of the Sinai desert during
the 40 year Exodus.
It was also in a tent that God first Tabernacled with man during
that Exodus.
This tent-Tabernacle was the meeting place with God-Emmanuel,
("which being interpreted is "God with us' ",
Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 7:14).
We were meant to "come away" with our Beloved (Canticle
of Canticles 2:10)
"ABIDE in Me and I in you." John 15:4
Psalm 27:4 (which is recited daily till the end of this season)
says it so well:
"that I may dwell
in the house of the Lord all the days of my life".
We are to delight ourselves, even now, in the Presence of the
Lord.
(Canticle of Canticles 2:3..."I sat down under His shadow
with great delight")
EMMANUEL "God
is with us" (dwelling, tabernacling)
BIRTH
OF YESHUA- JESUS ......TISHRI 15
Later on, in one of these
very booths made for Sukkot, the birth of Yeshua-Jesus took place
on the first day of
Tabernacles. He came at this "Season of Joy", just as
the angels said, "We bring you tidings of great joy".
Greg Killian has done an excellent research paper on the birth of
Yeshua on the
first day of Sukkot.. It has many interesting details.

TENTS....BOOTHS....SHELTERS
Sukkot teaches
us that the circumstances of life can easily put us into
temporary, frail conditions whereupon we are much more dependent
upon God and the elements, than when dwelling in permanent homes.
Sukkot teaches us too that
our bodies are frail tents and that someday we will live in
eternal bodies that will never wear out 2 Corinthians Chapter
5:1-9.
That time will be when we Tabernacle, or dwell , with the Lord
forever in heaven.
When we keep life simple, and remain pilgrims on this earth--- looking for that city
whose Maker and foundation is God Hebrews 11:9,10,13 --- then we
have the meaning of Sukkot in our hearts.
Sukkot Central: http://www.ou.org/chagim/sukkot/default.htm
"By faith
Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he
should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out,
not knowing whither he went.
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange
country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac
and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder
and maker is God......
"These all died in faith, not having received the promises,
but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and
embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers
and pilgrims on the earth.
For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a
country....
But now they desire a better country, that is, an
heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called
their God: for He hath prepared for them a city." Hebrews 11:8-10; 13-16.
THANK YOU, GOD..........THANKSGIVING..............INGATHERING
The feast of Sukkot is also known as "Ingathering"... a
time of completed harvest, a time of bringing in the sheaves.
"Ingathering" acknowledges the abundance and blessings
of God during the agricultural year. It is the Thanksgiving-celebration that our
forefathers emulated at the dawn of American History in gratitude
for all of
God's provision.
In American culture, we celebrate Thanksgiving ( November ) for
our harvest-ingathering BEFORE we honor the Birth of Christ (
December ) . However, according to correct Biblical liturgy ( Leviticus 23:35 ),
Yeshua's birth is to be celebrated at the same time of
giving thanks for harvest-Ingathering .
Sukkot is a required- feast, whereupon all males are to appear
before the Lord in Jerusalem at this time. During the Millennium,
ALL Gentile nations are required to send representatives to
Jerusalem to "worship the King", lest rains be witheld,
and their lands do not prosper. Zechariah 14:16-21.
There is also a far greater consequence for not giving our annual
thank-you to our Creator-God for the provision He has supplied us
with. ( Deuteronomy 8. ) Truly, God is our Jehovah-Jireh, and we
are to come into His gates with thanksgiving and praise. Psalm 100:4.

70 BULLS FOR
70 NATIONS
A GLOBAL CELEBRATION...Theocracy
In Genesis Chapter 10, we are
given the Table of Nations with 70 names for each nation.
And in Acts 17:26 it says:
(God) "hath made of ONE BLOOD all nations of men for to
dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times
before appointed
(" mo'ed ".......appointed days/ feasts/ times/
seasons),
"and the bounds of their
habitations."
And as mentioned earlier by Zechariah 14:16-21, the nations---
all 70 of them--- will send representatives
up to Jerusalem to celebrate Tabernacles each year .
"And it shall come to pass that everyone that is left of all
the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from
year to year to worship the KING, the LORD of hosts (Sabaoth) and
To Keep The Feast of TABERNACLES. (also Zechariah 14: 18,19)
The Book of Numbers Chapter 29 is read during Sukkot and tells of
the Offerings involved at this time. In a very symbolic manner,
70 bulls are offered in a descending order each
day...13...12...11...10 and so on. It is fascinating to learn
that 7 Bulls are offered on the 7th Day (Hosanna Rabba). Seven is
the number associated with Messsiah.
"Jerusalem Jewish Voice"gives a good explanation of
this ceremony. We found "Sukkot's Subliminal Sublimity"
to be highly insightful, in regards to these Offerings.

Another good description of
the Feast of Tabernacles is found in 2 Chronicles 5-7, wherein
Solomon dedicates the First Temple during this Feast.

GOD'S TEMPLE...sanctuary...dwelling place
Hear these profound words from King Solomon:
"The LORD hath said..."I have chosen Jerusalem, that My
name might be there."
And Solomon prayed:"O LORD God of Israel, there is no God
like Thee in the heaven,
nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and showest mercy unto
thy servants
that walk before Thee with all their hearts (zeal).
"BUT WILL GOD IN VERY
DEED DWELL WITH MEN ON THE EARTH?
behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Thee;
how much less this house which I have built!" 2 Chronicles
6: 1,6,14,18.
This sentiment is also echoed by Paul in Acts 17:24-28
"God that made the world and all things therein,
seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth
dwelleth not in temples made with hands"....
"that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him,
and FIND Him, though He be not far from everyone of us:
For in Him we live, and move, and have our being."
Solomon then goes on to ask the LORD that whenever people turn
toward this place, that God would graciously then answer their
prayers. Today, our Lord is seated at the Right hand of the
Father in heaven. When we pray and LOOK UP skyward, we are facing
the very real heavenly temple Hebrews 9:11,12 ;
23-25...Revelation 15:5
WE ARE THE TEMPLE OF
THE HOLY GHOST
Solomon is very wise to say
that God does not dwell in a single solitary place....a church, a
synagogue or a temple. God's spirit dwells within us, and we are
the temple of the Holy Ghost.
1 Corinthians 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 6:19
ARK IN HEAVEN
The manifested presence of
God is in Heaven. There, we are told, is where the Ark of the
Covenant resides TODAY Revelation 11:19
and also the Mercy Seat.....Hebrews Chapter 9:
"The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the
Holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first
tabernacle was yet standing:
Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were
offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that
did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience...until
the time of the reformation."(v.8)
"But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to
come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle,
not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, BUT BY HIS
OWN BLOOD
He entered in ONCE into the Holy Place, having obtained ETERNAL
REDEMPTION for us (v.11)
(those who
trust in the Blood-covering of Jesus for our sins.... Yeshua Blood-bought Believers)
"How much more (than
ritual sacrifice) shall THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, who through
the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge
your conscience from dead works
to serve the Living God (interactive God) v.14
MERCY SEAT IN HEAVEN
(His Throne of Grace.... Hebrews 4:16)
"For Christ is not entered into the Holy Places made with
hands, which are figures of the
true; BUT INTO HEAVEN ITSELF, now to appear in the presence of
God for us."(v.24)
But now ONCE in the end of the age hath He appeared to put away
sin by the sacrifice of HIMSELF (v.26)
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;
and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the Second Time
without sin unto salvation.(v.28)
Today, the Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat-- His Throne of
Grace-- are actually up in the highest heaven. They are not here
on earth. Any fabrication on that fact is exactly that, a
fabrication.
LOOK UP, LIFT UP
According to Solomon's prayer, whenever we LOOK UP TOWARD HEAVEN
AND PRAY, God will be especially attentive to our prayers. That
is our point of focus today.
See Luke 21:28; Psalm 123:1; Ps 5:7; Ps. 28:2; Ps. 138:2;
Isaiah 40:26; Dan. 4:34 ; Jn 11:41; Jn 17:1; Acts 1:10 ; Acts
7:55.
While it is not traditional to pray Looking UP, it is very
Biblical.
"Tonight [
third day Hol ha Moed...Tishrei 19 ] is
the last night of the Simchat Beit HaShoevah
celebrations of Sukkot, in which the joyful water-drawing
ceremonies of the Holy Temple are remembered
amidst song and dance. The neighborhood of Meah She'arim in
Jerusalem is particularly known for its many Simchat Beit
HaShoevah celebrations in various yeshivot on each of the first
few nights of the intermediate days of the Sukkot holiday.
Several thousand people take part each night. Tomorrow
night will be the night of Hoshana Rabba,
when all-night Torah study
takes the place of the singing and dancing." Arutz 7 October 15-2003
THREE SPECIAL DAYS
As was said earlier, Sukkot,
is a seven day festival (Leviticus 23:34) and 2 extra-special
days have been added on afterwards (total 9 day season). The
three last days of these nine days have special meaning. They are
called
' Hoshanna Rabbah', 'Shemini Atzeret', and 'Simchat Torah'.

The
Last, or 7th day of the Feast.
This is the day when Our Lord's own voice became as it were a
final Shofar, calling the thirsty (seekers) unto Him. At the time
of the final libation ceremony--- the pouring out of water from
the pool of Siloam---
John 7:37 records......
"In the last day, that great day of the feast (Hoshanna
Rabbah), Jesus stood and cried
saying,
'If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.
He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his
belly (innermost being)
shall flow rivers of Living Water.
But this spake
He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive:
for the Holy Ghost (Ruach HaChodesh) was not yet given; because
that Jesus was not yet glorified". John 7:37- 39

The symbolism of water is used
throughout Sukkot representing Salvation through the Word
...Isaiah 12:2, 3....
"Behold, God is my Salvation (Yeshua); I will trust, and not
be afraid:
for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song;
He also is become my Salvation (Jesus)
Therefore with JOY shall ye draw water out of the wells of
Salvation."

Isaiah 11: 9b "the earth shall be full of the knowledge of
the LORD,
as the waters cover the sea." see also Habakkuk 2:14
Isaiah 55:1...
"Ho everyone that
thirsteth, come ye to the Waters, and he that hath no money; come
ye, buy, and eat"
In John 7:37, the feast of Hoshanna Rabbah, Christ is calling all
those who seek after meaning, purpose and fulfillment, truth,
goodness and righteousness to drink of Him. He has the wells of
Salvation. He will save now!
Revelation 21: 6,7.... "I will give unto him that is athirst
of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his
God, and he shall be My son."
Revelation 22:17...."And let him that is athirst come.
And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."
Sukkot through the Ages:
http://www.jajz-ed.org.il/festivls/tish/30.html
The nation of Israel has
longed , with great longing, for national salvation.
From the time that they waved Palm Branches at Our Lord's
triumphal entry into Jerusalem from the Mt. of Olives (Palm
Sunday "Hosanna! Save Now!!) to the question of "Will
you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? (Church
Age...Acts 1:6) and down through the centuries to where we are
right now, this longing has increased.
The cry from the depths of their hearts is for the Great
Salvation, the Hoshanna Rabbah....the restoration of Israel by
their Deliverer and Messiah.
It is during this feast that the Jewish people pray: "May
the all Merciful One raise up for us the fallen tabernacle
(sukkot) of David" (Amos 9:11)
See Canadian Friends (ICEJ) 4
part presentation:
http://www.cdn-friends-icej.ca/judeochr/sukkot/sukkot.html
(All 4 parts are excellent!)
In this scene depicted for us in John 7:37, Jesus is plainly and
boldly telling the people that He is indeed their Messiah. Many
believed Him, for the people heard Him gladly.
Mark 12:37
That is why 6 months later they laid their shawls down for His
donkey to walk upon as Jesus fulfilled
Zechariah 9:9. Yes, there was a remnant of believers on Palm
Sunday.
But the hierarchy, the religious establishment, rejected Him and,
along with the political rulers, turned the majority of the mob
against Him. They knew not their hour of visitation, and they
were jealous .Matthew 27:18.
They did not want to hand over their control to a loving
Shepherd.
They, the religious "shepherds" had rejected their one
and only Shepherd who could have restored Israel even at that
time. (see Matthew 23)
Because of that rejection, National Salvation would have to be
postponed.
It would be held off until all of us, and all of Israel,
understand that salvation is of the heart first , and the nation
second. Henceforth they would not see Him again until they would
say,
" Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord."
Matthew 23:39
Jesus had spoken these words on the last day of the last required
feast, in the fall of the year.
By the following spring--- 6 months later--- Jesus would be
crucified on the first required feast of the year, Passover, as
the sacrificial Lamb. In other words, these words of salvation
that Jesus spoke in the midst of the assembly during Sukkot so
threatened the prestige and control of the governing religious
authorities, that by the time the next required assembly came ,
they executed their problem.
Truth is the most confrontational thing there is. Truth will
eventually lead to life and death choices.
To answer Pilate, truth is life. But some must die in the telling
of it.
(The Crucifixion took place within the same week as the
"Great Hosannas" were cried aloud by Messiah's
followers on the previous Sunday, Palm Sunday). "Save
now", they cried.
LIVING WATER...HOLY GHOST
The Holy Spirit is greatly
symbolized in Hoshanna Rabbah for after Our Lord called all those
who were thirsting to come to Him, He continued,
"He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of
his belly
(innermost being) shall flow rivers of living water."
But this spake He of the Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh)
which they that believe
on Him should receive
for the Holy Ghost was not
yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified."
John 7: 38,39.
May we all hear His call to
drink deeper of the Holy Ghost.
Ezekiel 47:1-5
1. Salvation
is two-fold ...the calling of God, and our receiving of His Word
unto the confession of our sins.
2. Redemption:
As we confess and forsake our sins, we are redeemed with the
precious blood of Jesus Christ
( crossing through His "Red sea" of blood")
3. Atonement is the actual blood-covering
(kippur) of our sins upon the mercy-seat in Heaven.
It involved a death-sacrifice-- once and for all-- at Calvary,
and is available to all.
Being transformed by grace, we become dead to our sins.
4. Justification is God's total forgiveness
of our confessed sins. (evidencing a contrite attitude)
Our sins are removed as far as the East from the West, as we
forsake them.
Justification is God's act of total mercy, and we cannot merit
justification by any works of our own.
The bottom line of all Redemption is the Blood of Jesus
Christ and His absolute mercy
upon us.
5. Purification / Sanctification)
is the daily work of the Holy Ghost within us , as we submit to
the Lordship of Jesus Christ, dying to self daily.

SHEMINI
ATZERET..."the assembly of the 8th day"....October 21, 2008
1. The CIRCUMCISION of
Jesus Christ
We already saw that the first day of Tabernacles is the birthday
of Jesus Christ (Tishri 15). And in the readings linked to that
section, we find that 8 days after Yeshua's birth , He would be
circumcised Luke 2:21
God is so precise, in setting aside an extra 8th day at the end
of this feast, to prepare for the commemoration of His
circumcision (which is a testimony of His covenant with His
people. Genesis 17 )
Isn't God marvelous in His calculations?
Here are some medical reasons
why circumcision is to be performed on the eighth day :
"The reason based on the newborn's health is
supported by medical research done in our generation. According
to this study it was shown that during the first few days after
birth a newborn has difficulty with blood-clotting, but by the
eighth day the blood-clotting mechanism reaches its maximal
function.[4] The entry "Circumcision" in the Encyclopedia
of Jewish Medical Ethics, Part 3 (edited by Dr. Abraham
Steinberg, Jerusalem 1993) reads:
2. Praying to our Rainmaker
Jeremiah 5:24 ......1
Kings 17:14 ..... Acts
14:17 ...... Deuteronomy 32:2 ....
Zecariah 10:1 ......
James 5:18 .... Leviticus 26:4 .... Deuteronomy 28:12 ....
1Kings 18:1 ......
1 Kings 18: 41.... Job
5:10 .... Job 29:23 .... Job 38:26 ..... Psalm 68:9 ........ Psalm 147:8.
Praying for Rain
http://www.aish.com/holidays/Sukkot/new_site/articles/Sukkot_A_Universal_holiday.asp
In humble dependency, this is the day that we pray to our
Rainmaker for silver-glistening manna--our rain for next year's
crops. Job 38:26-28 and Psalm 68:19
Right now America, the Mid-East, Africa and other parts of the
world are suffering from drought.
Have we observed Shemini Atzeret? Do we trust in God for our
crops, or do we trust in agri-business and technology and genetic
modification and engineering? Do we pray for rain ? When was the
last time one heard a sermon on praying for rain?
Since this is also the day that we honor God's covenant
(circumcision) with His people, do we regard His basic covenant
with us? That basic covenant is this:
"Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh unto
you."James 4:8
If God were to pour out water in proportion to our daily
Scripture reading, how much liquid would we drink each day? Would
we go thirsty some days? Many days?
Maybe that's what drought is all about. God is giving back liquid
rain in proportion to our devotion...our
washing ourselves in His word each day. It's something to think
about.
"My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distill
as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon
the grass.
Deuteronomy 32:2
We are commanded in Deuteronomy 11:13, 14 to " love the LORD
your God, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your
soul. That I will
give you the rain of your land
in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou
mayest gather in the corn ( grains...Spring and early
summer ),
and thy wine ( fruit harvest ..mid and late summer ),
and thine oil. ( olives, nuts....late fall, autumn )
How grateful we are that God has set aside a special day to
remind us of His blessings in response to our devotion.
"Righteousness (Godliness) exults a nation. Proverbs 14:34
Ungodliness is a reproach and a drought...a bitter harvest of
famine.
What is rain without the true Gift from heaven?
"Drop down dew ye heavens from above and rain down the Just
One"
[see also Deuteronomy 32:2; Psalm72:6; Ezekiel 34:26; Hosea 6:3
and 10:12)
Likewise, disobedience causes a witholding of the rain :
"And it shall be that whoso will not come up of all the
families of the earth to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD
of hosts, even unto them shall be no rain."
Zechariah 14:17.
No worship ..... no rain.
When is the "early"
rain and the "latter " rain in Israel ?
The early rain is in the
autumn of the year and the latter rain is in the spring.
http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/climate.htm
"Be patient therefore,
brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold the husbandman
waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long
patience for it, unti He receive the early and the latter rain.
Be ye also patient." James 5: 7, 8
SIMCHAT TORAH ....rejoicing
in God's Holy Word ...October 22 ( Israel ) Oct 23 ( Global ) -2008
October 22 celebrated in Israel....October 23 celebrated
elsewhere ( Diaspora )
In Israel, Shemini Atzerat and Simchat Torah are celebrated on
the same day.
Outside of Israel, Shemini Atzerat is celebrated on the 4th and
Simchat Torah is celebrated on the 5th of October, 2007.
Now if reading the Word ( Bible, Scriptures ) daily is difficult
for you, God has given us an impetus in starting.
Simchat Torah is the day that everyone starts reading Genesis in
the Bible and continues through the Word, ending with
Revelations/Apocalypse by the Fall of the Year. If that is too
large of an order, why not try starting at "Matthew"
and continue on. The more you read, the more you will thirst for
more.
Here's a section in the Bible where the people stood till noon,
listening to God's Holy Word....
Nehemiah Chapter 8 and 9 . Do we have that kind of a desire? Why
not ask the Holy Spirit to create that kind of thirst and zeal
for the Word? He will. " Well begun is half done" (
quoting Barbara Fernandez )
As one reads the Holy Word, one comes under conviction that the
many blessings of God we have taken for granted (Nehemiah 9). We
grow prosperous, self-reliant and then we lose the fear of God
and backslide. The only cure for backsliding and apostasy is a
return to the Word....not just the reading of it, but the heeding
of it. God continually chastens those that He loves (Rev. 3:19.)
He helps us not to wander.
Psalm 119 states:
"Before I was afflicted, I went astray: but now have I kept
Thy Word...It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I
might learn Thy statutes."
It is then that the stagnant pools-within us are purified and
quickened by the Living Waters, the reading of the Word. Proverbs
13:14
An entire reading of Psalm 119 gives us a greater understanding
and appreciation for God's Word (called "law")...His
way of keeping us out of harm's way.
Thy Law (Word) is my delight" Psalm 119:77
We need to prayerfully consider the blessing God's Word brings to
an individual , a family, a community and a nation. If God's Holy
Word is not kept, He will remove his blessings Deuteronomy
28:15-68.
If persons and nations do not return to the authority of the
Word, only Judgement remains. May God help us.
The final echo remains... "Come to Me, all ye who
thirst." John 7:37
Simchat Torah marks the beginning of the Scripture-readings for
the year, which will
conclude with next year's festival. This is an excellent
opportunity to start one's personal
Bible-Reading Plan as put forth in "It's Never too Late"
But wait a moment, is the WHOLE Old Testament read by the Jewish
people ? No. They have purposely left out
Isaiah 53 from their services.
"The omission is striking because of what Montefiore does
not quite say. It is not simply because of the Christian
interpretation that the Isaiah passage is omitted. After all, the
services from which it is omitted are not for Christian ears.
They are for Jews. What does that imply? The problem is not what
Christians think of the passage.
The problem (according to those who omitted the
passage) is what Jews might think. "http://www.cbn.com/SpiritualLife/perspectives/PassionMovie_Isaiah53.asp?option=print (

SUKKOT READINGS
notice the referrences to three different conflicts- -
First the Arab-Israeli war, where Israel is victorious;
and secondly the Magog war where again Israel is victorious.
Thirdly, the takeover of Jerusalem beginning with the Abomination of Desolation
and ending with Armageddon
On the first day of Sukkot Zechariah 14 is read. There are several themes in this one
chapter of Zechariah:

There shall be HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD...verses 20, 21...forever
On the Saturday-Sabbath
within Sukkot Ezekiel
Chapters 38 and 39 are read.
These Chapters deal with the Invasion of Israel
(Northern area), rather than
with an invasion of
Jerusalem
(Southern area) as stated in
the previously read Zechariah 14:1, 2.
These are both prophetic chapters. When Gog and Magog comes
against Israel, Israel will be the victor, by the intervention of
God.
"Thus will I magnify Myself, and sanctify Myself; and I will
be known in the eyes of
many nations, and they shall know that I am the
LORD." Ezekiel 38:23
When Jerusalem is invaded by foreign forces at the Temple
Mount, the city will be taken.
But 3 1/2 years later, those that meddled with Jerusalem will be
finally judged.
The Book of Ecclesiastes is also read during this feast of
Ingathering. The Wisdom that is embedded in this book is of great
advantage to those who pursue its' pages.
The more famous gems are these:
*There's nothing new under the sun [history repeats itself]
Ecclesiastes 1:9
*There's a time and purpose for everything [seasons of closeness
....and seasons of separation] Ecclesiastes Chapter 3
*Necessity of being tactful Ecclesiastes 8: 5,6 [timing is of the
essence]
*"Because sentence against an evil work is not executed
speedily,
......therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them
to do evil" Ecclesiastes 8:11
*And our favorite is Chapter 12, which prepares us all
......for the diminishment of the body as the years fly by.
.....The end of Wisdom therefore is to fear and obey God,
......"for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall
bring every work into judgement,
......with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it
be evil." Ecclesiastes 12:13,14
So there are a lot of insights we can learn from the feast of
Sukkot. Even though it is a seven day feast, as stated in
Leviticus 23, it is expanded somewhat into 9 days, by praying for
rain for next year's harvest (also by observing circumcision);
and by rejoicing in the Word.
The only actual 8 day feast is Hanukkah, which is fast
approaching, and we will take up the "Feast of Lights"
later.
The realization that is the season of Yeshua's birth is beginning
to take precedence over
the traditional celebration of this feast. As we come closer and
closer to His millennial
reign, it will finally be given the prominence it so richly
deserves. Yeshua Jesus is our
King of Kings residing in the city of the Great King. Happy
Birthday, Jesus!

From Arutz Sheva--Sept

"At least three of the Four Species of Sukkot have medicinal
properties. Margalit
Shilo of the Leumit
Sick Fund, quoted in HaTzofeh, counts the species'
blessings:
"The Etrog (citron) balances the liver's actions and
increases appetite... Citron juice balances blood
pressure... The Hadas (myrtle) is a cleansing agent,
helping with intestine infections, stomach pains and
constipation... and is an anti-dandruff agent...
Water boiled with the Aravah (willow) can serve as a painkiller,
and is good for the throat and gums..." It should be
noted, however, that the Four Species used on Sukkot may not
Halakhically be used
for anything other than their ritual purpose until after the
holiday."
