NO
- vember
Got an invitation to where you don't want to go ? Just say no.
Then read Psalm One.
We
are praying here that God will grant you the courage to say no,
and the fortitude to stay away.
"From such turn away " 2 Timothy 3 : 1--5
John Chapter 7 speaks of the
feast of Tabernacles ( Ingathering ) ... a time when everyone
thanked God for the harvest.
Ingathering is the Biblical - Thanksgiving. And at that time, all
the families would gather together ( in Jerusalem ) to celebrate.
Jesus chose not to celebrate ( eat with ) with His family at that
time.
Our Lord knew well the stranglehold family members can put upon
one another. That is why he stated:
" A man's worst enemies are those of his own
household". -- Micah 7:6 ; Matthew 10:36;
Now our Lord didn't just make that up. He knew this from personal
experience ; and He allows us to see into
the
sibling-jealousies and ill-will within His own family circle in John Chapter 7:
2--10
His brothers and sisters mocked ( scorned, derided ) His person
and His purpose, and they let Jesus know that they, for sure,
would not respect Him at the gathering." For neither did
His brethren believe in Him "
Jesus simply did not go to the family gathering, but went to
honor God instead.
Thanksgiving is a day to honor God and thank Him for all of His
blessings.
It is not a National
family-relatives day where arguments and mockings abound.
(
arrogance and condescension )
Notice
well : Our Lord didn't merely say NO to the family gathering, He
put His words into action and abided by that NO.
Psalm 41: 9 .... Psalm 55: 12--14 .... Jeremiah 12: 6 .... Jeremiah 20: 10... Obadiah 1:7 ...
Matthew 10:35, 36 ....Mattthew 26:23 .. Matthew 26: 49, 50 .... Luke 12: 53 .... Luke 21: 16 .... John 13:18
Matthew 10:21 ... Matthew 12: 46--49 .... Mark 3: 32--34 .... Luke 8: 20, 21
"Dear God, let me not take to
myself nor suffer over the actions and reactions of other people.
Other adult human beings
[Ed: who are manipulative, domineering, flattering, disrespectful
]
are not my responsibility no matter how closely their lives may
be intertwined with mine. I will not allow myself to be troubled
by anyone else.
My one problem is to improve my own way of living" ( Ed: and
to keep my peace of mind and serenity )

ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S FAMOUS SPEECH
"We
have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven.
We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and
prosperity.
We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation
has ever grown.
But we have forgotten God.
We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace,
and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us;
and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts,
that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom
and virtue of our own.
Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too
self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving
grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!"

* WORKS OF MERCY
as
led of the HOLY GHOST
Matthew 25:31-46
When the Son of Man shall come in His glory, and all the holy
angels with Him,
then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory:
And before Him shall be gathered all nations:
and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd
divideth His sheep from the goats:
And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on
the left.
Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand:
"Come, ye Blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom
prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
For I was hungry, and ye gave Me meat. I was thirsty and ye gave
Me drink.
I was a stranger and you took Me in.
"Naked, and ye clothed Me. I was sick and ye visited Me.
I was in prison and you came unto Me."
Then shall the righteous answer Him saying,
"Lord, when saw we Thee hungry, and fed Thee ? or thirsty,
and gave Thee drink?
When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in ? or naked, and
clothed Thee ?
Or when saw we Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto Thee ?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, "Verily I say
unto you:
In
as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My
brethren,
ye have done it unto Me".
Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand,
"Depart from Me , ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared
for the devil and his angels:
"For I was hungry, and ye gave Me no meat. I was thirsty and
ye gave Me no drink.
I was a stranger and ye took Me not in. Naked and ye clothed Me
not."
Then shall they also answer Him, saying,
"Lord, when saw we Thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger,
or naked, or sick, or in prison and did not minister unto Thee ?
Then shall He answer them, saying,
"Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye did it not to one
of the least of these, ye did it not to Me".
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment;
but the righteous into Life Eternal."
Matthew
25:31- 46
