EU Force to guard Egytian-Israli border -- Nov. 1, 2005
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told
Italian Foreign Minister Ginafranco Fini in
Jerusalem that Israel wishes to consider EU operatives
as enforcement officials and not just as observers.
Vice Premier Shimon Peres' office
will hold diplomatic talks with the EU, while the Ministry of
Defense will oversee the security arrangements

appropriate time when all that will occur. The U.S. is to build
the military base within Israel under the guise that it is for
the use of the U.S. military. It is not. It is to be turned over
to the United Nations at the appropriate time. The sole purpose
of this base is for the United Nations use, not the U.S., and not
Israel. This base will be a disaster to the best interests of

newsletter : .... THE AMERICAN army base -
As reported in my last memo, a huge American army base is nearing
completion in Israel. Reportedly, it has holding facilities for
as many as 18,000 protesters.
After visiting it yesterday,
I'd say way more. This base is massive. I counted ten
enormous US Army issue prefab warehouses and more were going up.
At the base guard post, the American flag is waving in the wind.
A sign proclaims that the project manager is one Jerry Ray.
I start taking
photos of the base with a cheap camera. The guard asked what I
was doing. I replied, "I'm a journalist proving that a huge
American military base is being constructed on Israeli
soil."
"What's
wrong with that?" he asked. "Who else will protect us
from the Palestinians?"
"Where are
the Americans?," I probed.
"What
do you mean, they're everywhere here. Everyone in charge is
American."
We drove away.
My friend at the wheel was even more depressed than me.
"It's a concentration
camp," he said.
To witness
Israel's loss of sovereignty, take Route 443 to the Rosh Haayin
junction. Drive ten minutes until you see Rantis Junction. The
sign points to Beit Arye, and Halamish. Turn right. The base is a
mile away on the left side. To salute the American flag, turn
left at the entrance road.
The
base is located ten minutes from Ben Gurion Airport. Luckily,
a new terminal opened last year, so the Americans have the
spacious old terminal to store and move whatever they're planning
to import .......once Gush Katif and the rest of the settler
vermin are rid of.

troops to assist in Gaza pullout -- June 1, 2005

to allow the United States to mediate a co-ordinated pullout
from Gaza with the Palestinians. Cabinet ministers approved the
releases by majority vote
Following last Thursday's summit between Mr. Abbas and U.S.
President George W. Bush, a senior official said Israel was
willing for the United States to mediate a co-ordinated
withdrawal from the occupied Gaza Strip this summer.
"We are willing to see an
American contribution to a co-ordinated withdrawal
from the Gaza Strip," said the official in Mr. Sharon's
office.

Next week, General Charles Wald,
deputy commander of the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM),
will visit here. Wald, who is in charge of ties with the Israel
Defense Forces, will meet with Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz
and senior IDF officers. He will apparently also visit
the American soldiers who came to Israel with the Patriot missile
batteries.
Wald took over as deputy head of USEUCOM just last month, and his
trip to Israel is being billed as a get-acquainted visit. Israeli
sources, however, predict the talks will focus on the expected
war with Iraq. "Our strategic coordination with the
Americans is at a much higher level than it was during the 1991
Gulf War," a senior security source said.
Wald, a fighter pilot who saw action in both Vietnam and Iraq, is
also considered the acting commander of
USEUCOM, which has
responsibility for Israel. In the U.S. military hierarchy, the
official commander of USEUCOM is also the head of NATO's military
forces and thus spends most of his time running the NATO command
in Brussels.
Wald is familiar with the Middle East having served as commander
of Central Command's air forces in the late 1990s. Central
Command is responsible for the Gulf states.......
Wald's visit will follow hard on the heels of that of Gen.
Charles Simpson, who left the country on Wednesday.
Simpson, the director of air and space
operations at USEUCOM, has been appointed
chief liaison officer with Israel in the event of a war with
Iraq. Simpson met with Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Gaby Ashkenazy
and other senior officers to set up working procedures for
coordination in the event of a war. Other members of the American
liaison unit who came with Simpson are staying here to set up a
system of communications between the IDF and the Pentagon.
