VIRTUAL UNITS ... cashless
digital transactions, eft electronic fund transfers, signatures
If there is a global financial crisis ( "order out of
chaos" ) in banking transactions, will we convert from cash to
"virtual units" ?
If so, are these types of kiosks ( ATMs) the forerunners of all
financial transactions in virtual units only ?
Time will tell.

Cashless Society by Glenn Guest -- Feb. 13, 2008
Book: " Steps
Toward the Mark of the Beast " www.stepstowardthemark.com
"In a system like this, it's possible to
control everyone by controlling their finances. If all our money
is just zeroes and ones in a computer, we'll have to get
permission to use our own money. If those who control the money
don't like someone, they can deny their purchases, making them an
economic non-entity."

The End of National Currency -- May 9, 2007 -- International Gold
standard vs. national gold standard
Benn
Steil, writing in the current issue of CFR's influential
Foreign Affairs magazine, says "the world needs to abandon
unwanted currencies, replacing them with dollars, euros, and multinational currencies as yet unborn."
Governments must let go of the fatal notion that nationhood
requires them to make and control the money used in their
territory."
... he contends even
re-establishing a ( Ed: national ) gold standard would be
counter-productive when the only real solution is to
abandon the idea that nations have
any reason to create currencies at all
Steil imagines the ultimate solution is to
privatize a global currency through a gold-based international monetary system.
"A new gold-based international monetary system surely
sounds far-fetched," he concludes. "But so, in 1900 did
a monetary system without gold. Modern technology makes a revival
of gold money, through private gold banks, possible even without
government support."

VeriPay : Cashless Transactions
..... an American company announced a new syringe-injectable
microchip implant for humans, designed to be used as a
fraud-proof payment method for
cash and credit-card transactions.
The chip implant is being presented as an advance
over credit cards and smart cards,
which, absent biometrics and appropriate safeguard technologies,
are subject to theft, resulting in identity fraud
the chip's "unique under-the-skin format" could
be used for a variety of identification applications in the
security and financial worlds
In announcing VeriPay to ID World delegates, Silverman
stated the implant has "enormous marketplace potential"
and invited banking and credit companies to partner with VeriChip
Corporation .... in developing specific commercial applications
beginning with pilot programs and market tests.
[ Ed: VeriChip

Cashless payment systems are now part of a larger
technology development subset: government identification
experiments that seek to combine cashless payment applications
with national ID information on media (such as a
"smart" card), which contain a whole host of
government, personal, employment and commercial data and
applications on a single, contactless RFID [ Ed:

Ultimately, it could be embedded in anything
someday, maybe even under the skin."

The Death of
Cash -- Dec. 27, 2006
In the coming year, even the smallest purchases
will be paid for electronically after credit card giants Visa and
Barclaycard struck a deal to create the next generation of
"wave and pay" cards for purchases of less than £10.
But the Baja Beach Club in Barcelona has taken the technology one
step further by having tiny data chips implanted surgically under
customers' skin.
The VeriChip then allows clubbers to pay for drinks by waving
their arm across the counter
Tesco is apparently considering its first
totally cashless store while German hypermarket
Real is trialling stores where customers can
only pay with a credit or debit card.
But your mobile phone
is likely to be the biggest threat to cash. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_headline=the-death-of-cash&method=full&objectid=18332967&siteid=94762-name_page.html

Virtual mobile signatures by cell phone -- Jan. 30, 2007 ... VMAC
Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), the world's
second largest manufacturer of smart cards, is strengthening its
partnership with Valimo Wireless, the market leader in mobile
phone-based strong authentication and mobile signatures. G&D
is the first SIM card vendor to implement the Valimo Mobile
Authentication Client (VMAC) on a SIM card.
A mobile signature is the digital equivalent of a
signature on a paper contract. It allows the mobile phone to
become the pen necessary to sign for almost any e-service, like web banking, government
documents, and entry to corporate intranets from outside of the
office. Unlike other identification schemes for e-services,
mobile signatures require no additional devices and software, and
no additional password lists
With VMAC, mobile
signature services do not require mobile operators to commit to a
specific (mobile) network protocol or delivery method for
graphically-enhanced applications. The signing experience also
remains consistent for the whole portfolio of mobile services on
offer.

Virtual Smart ID cards -- Jan. 3, 2007 ... Deepnet internal vault "our

Wave's technology is designed to
enable the encryption keys used for and by
Deepnet's Smart ID virtual smart cards to be
automatically generated and protected by the unique
standards-based Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware
security chip. This new level of security supports the advanced
functionality of the Smart ID, which can hold user's personal
credentials, such as private encryption keys, passwords, digital
certificates and biometrics, inside the
protected environment of the internal file system.
Using Wave's Trusted Computing Group-Enabled Cryptographic
Service Provider (CSP), Deepnet can deploy its Smart ID
virtual smart card application with hardware-generated and stored
cryptographic keys. Traditionally, these keys are vulnerable to
attack; one solution is to store the keys in a Trusted
Platform Module vault.
The TPM chip, embedded directly on the motherboard of new
business PCs, performs a variety of business security features
when combined with Wave System's EMBASSY™ Trust Suite
softwaresuch as, security
policy management, data protection, password
management and strong pre-boot authentication. The solution can
substantially improve protection against password, data and
personal information theft, and is designed to provide enhanced
application security, strong wireless authentication, secure
email and moreall while increasing productivity

Cashless society; digital units Dec. 6, 2006
--Mal Fletcher
Today's world is very different. International trading pacts
drive macro-economies and everything is linked to everything else
all across the globe. A financial sneeze in one major trading
centre can cause whole nations to catch cold - on the other side
of the world.
To serve this new economic landscape, we've invented digital
alternatives to cash
"The mobile phone is an amazing banking technology,
because it's so convenient for the user."
Phones have three great advantages over cards.
1. They have keys;
2. they have transmitters;
3. and they have enough memory and power ( Ed: batteries,
antenna ) to handle big processors and software for
encryption and accounting.
http://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/articles/life/Microchip_Implants_Vs_Cash__The_Race_Is_On/25011/p1/
PAGE TWO:
Yes, digital money has the advantage of being
able to handle large transactions instantly, even over long
distances, but using it requires complex electronic systems. Transactions are not anonymous; they can be traced
back to the user. [ Ed: excellent tracking device]
Real money is being replaced with virtual
money and this may very well be sowing the
seeds of eventual
electronic enslavement.
Our reliance on cards is actually a
reliance on chips and it is
already leading to unacceptable invasions of privacy. As
we grow more and more familiar with a microchip
culture, the easier it gets for someone to centralise
all the information contained on our cards.
One chip can easily contain all the relevant information about
our health, banking details, buying habits, voting preferences
and so on. The technology is already in place - what's missing is
the public acceptance.
Once money becomes nothing more than numbers on a screen, our
material wealth can easily be manipulated by other people
And the drive for a cashless society may well lead to sinister
attempts to control individuals and even entire populations.
Already, miniature chip technologies are being used to turn us
into an extension of our bank accounts - in a world where
numbers, not individuals, rule.
Cash, though far from a perfect means of trade, equals freedom.
If cash is eliminated, or downgraded even further, the stage is
set for companies, national governments or even global bodies to
monitor and manipulate our behaviour. http://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/articles/life/Microchip_Implants_Vs_Cash__The_Race_Is_On/25011/p2/

PayPal, eBay : virtual e-payments debit card ... July 7, 2006
PayPal, the online payments business of
electronic auction house eBay, is set to roll out a new virtual
debit card system to millions of account holders
The system, which is based on software developed by
Dublin-based Orbiscom,
generates single use account numbers and one-time card
verification codes that are linked to customers' PayPal accounts
To use the system a customer downloads an
application that is added to the toolbar in a Web browser. When
they want to use the virtual card, the application generates a
pre-populated form for payment which includes the single-use
MasterCard number and card verification code which is connected
to their PayPal account.

San Fransico -- Aiming to help close the
so-called digital divide, Intel announced Tuesday a design for an

program to train teachers and to extend wireless digital Internet
access worldwide
The program was to be formally introduced at the World
Congress on Information Technology, a conference in Austin,
Texas, where Intel's chief executive, Paul Otellini, was
scheduled to speak Wednesday [ May 3, 2006] . The
initiative, World Ahead, comes as Intel,
the No.1 chip maker, is embarking on what it says will be a
$1 billion overhaul as it faces declining market share and a
lagging share price
Intel plans to support the computer training of 10
million teachers around the world, Otellini said,
and has already financed the training of three million
At the World Economic Forum in Davos,
Switzerland, in January, [ Nicholas] Negroponte publicly
debated the issue with the Microsoft chairman, Bill Gates, and
chief technology officer, Craig Mundie, who suggested that
a better alternative might be a combination phone and
personal organizer that could be fitted with an inexpensive
display and keyboard, rather than an ultra-low-priced computer
The new Intel design, to be called Eduwise,
will include software for the classroom
The company has already financed 175 experimental
wireless networks using Wi-Max, a
longer-distance version of the Wi-Fi networking standard.

From " Bible Prophesy"
......
" Revelation 13:16-18 which describes the mark of the beast
which is required to buy and sell. There must be
some sort of compulsory system of tracking electronic credits,
such as an implantable microchip or tattoo of some sort which
properly identifies people who are authorized to buy and
sell. Cash and physical possession of items of monetary
value like gold and silver are simply incompatible with such a
system.
Further, Ezekiel goes on to describe a frightening
passage about how gold and silver seem to be less that worthless,
but almost even dangerous to possess, again, I feel I should
quote the full passage.
Ezekiel 7:19 They shall cast their silver in the
streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their
gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of
the LORD:
they shall not satisfy their souls , neither fill their bowels:
because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity."
"Why would anyone ever feel the need to "cast
their silver in the streets"? Even if silver were to
drop in value to ten cents per ounce, people would still buy and
sell and hoard the stuff (I certainly would), and there would be
no need to throw it away like it was garbage. So, to cast
silver into the streets! In the context of Daniel 11,
Revelation 13, and the rest of the passage where it says
"their gold shall be removed", it seems as if the only
reason people are casting silver into the streets is because they
want to get rid of it, so it cannot be said that they ever owned
or possessed the stuff. Today it is possible to scan
someone's house from the street and detect whether a person has a
quantity of precious metals." -- J. Hommel
http://www.bibleprophesy.org/goldsilver.htm
Comment from Apocalyptic Hope
: We take it that when Scripture says that precious metals ( gold
and silver)
will not be able to deliver them in the day of wrath, that it
means they will have no purchasing power with
metals.
When it states that it will not satisfy their souls , we take
that to mean that metals will no longer
further their survivalist-plans.
When it says that metals will not "fill their bowels",
we take that to mean that gold and silver
will not be able to purchase
food-- our basic commodity -- and that gold
and silver will lose their lustre in one's devotion and
attachment.

e-cash
Transactions in a cashless society -- Nov. 2004
Today, cash is replaced increasingly by electronic
credit and debit. In excess of $3 trillion is moved around the
planet daily. But no money moves in the sense of coins or
pigs going from my pocket or pen to yours. Everything's a scheme
of pointers. The bits used in such accounting have
no inherent value. They're only the means.
The next step is for some bits to have value. To
distinguish these bits, they'd need an agreed identity and
a unique and secure ID. And to stop multiple spending of
the same bits, there would need to be a clearing process
or a means to reveal the identity of anybody who tries to
double-spend. All these requirements are easily achieved in both
traceable and anonymous systems of E-cash. In
these cases, money does move; the bits are money. This is the
future, though only in part.

The DigiCash system will allow people to open accounts with participating banks and then down-load 'eMoney' into their terminals or into their 'electronic purses'. These electronic purses can be connected to the Internet using new developments in encryption which permit eMoney transactions to take place freely without risk of interception. This means that the remitters' transactions remain anonymous and can operate independent of border controls or other interventions by governments. But the payee is known to the banks and you can trace your cash distributions.
The benefit of remitter anonymity must be weighed against the
fact that lost eMoney is as unretrievable as paper money in a
stolen wallet. Users will need to guard their hard-drives, and
their stored data, as carefully as they currently guard their

by consumers to use its e-Port® cashless transaction device
when making purchases
The surveys also showed that when consumers had the option
of using credit or debit cards, they made more than one
purchase, generating more sales and greater
revenue for vending operators.
Jim Turner, VP and Channel Manager Intelligent Vending®.
"This is further evidence that every vending machine
operator should offer their customers the ability to use both
cash, credit and debit payment options."
National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA),
the vending industry's national body
The report, released during the recent NAMA trade show, found
that most consumers using vending machines favored
cashless transactions
The third USA Technologies survey shows that for a hotel
property, that was experiencing high vandalism, e-Port was
installed to eliminate cash entirely. The average ticket item for
cashless transactions in a vending machine is up from $1.32 to
$3.39, with 75 percent of all cashless transactions being multi
vends.

LEGIC ..Nov. 10, 2004 ... Proximity Cards
The answer was to develop a number of controlled
entrances using door based readers (some of which were concealed
out of sight within the fabric of the doors themselves) and
working with LEGIC proximity smart cards,
all integrated with an extensive CCTV system.
The decision to use the LEGIC contactless smart card
technology platform was due to its ability to provide
multi-functionality and encrypted data transmission, as well as
deliver the highest levels of security.

They have developed barcode technology which allows an
individual to SMS their bank before making a purchase.
The bank would then send back a barcode by SMS which would appear
on the window of the phone.
That barcode would then act as a credit card, which the consumer
can show at the till.
The purchase would be added to the shopper's phone bill whose
"purse" would be dictated by monthly income and credit

Banking
on Technology .... Dexit (nfc)
Technological innovation in financial services, however,
isn't limited to Canada's major banks and insurance companies. In
September 2003, Toronto start-up Dexit launched
a new electronic payment service in its home
city. The Dexit service allows consumers to pay for items like
coffee, newspapers or quick service meals using a Radio
Frequency Identification or RFID tag, a thin one- by two-inch
plastic tag that attaches to a key ring or cellphone.
The customer need only wave the RFID-enabled tag in front of the
RFID reader at the cash register. The Dexit system then authorizes
payment within two secondsa fraction of the time it
takes to carry out a transaction by other methods. This time
saving can make a real difference to merchants who rely on quick
customer turnover.
Developed with the support of CANARIE and launched in
cooperation with TD Canada Trust, National Bank and TELUS
Mobility, hundreds of merchants in the Toronto area are already
on board.

Digital
Transactions
Economists long have predicted a cashless society, where digital
transactions replace paper money and coins. Now, nearly
one in three in-store purchases is made with a debit card, a
study by American Bankers Association and Boston-based Dove
Consulting shows.
There are pluses for retailers, too. Thanks to a network of
electronic-payment systems, merchants can connect with banks
around the world in milliseconds to verify funds to cover a
payment.
At MasterCard's global payment nerve center in O'Fallon, Mo., the
company processes an average of 40 million credit and debit
transactions and settles $11 billion in payments a day.
Electronic funds transfer networks, such as Star,
Interlink and Pulse, also charge fees to access their
routing systems, which enable merchants to authorize payments
A majority of those transactions go through NACHA, the
electronic-payment association that processes them through a
national automated clearinghouse.
More banks and businesses defer to electronic payment now for the
time and cost savings, said NACHA spokesman Mike Herd.

Scanners
The Innov-X scanner will allow us to meet
customer demands for wireless networking applications like
scanning at retail locations, ticket kiosks, and passport
screening centers, etc. The client-driven requirements that we
are now seeing for our products are tending to necessitate custom
configuration. A typical example might be utilizing networked
scanner technology in a customs environment where agents would
verify passports using a desk-mounted scanner, wirelessly
networked to a local server that integrates multiple agents'
units."

Comment
from RR Chat
... xajk Nov. 23-2004
"One day, every person will be required to have a
'mark' in order to buy and sell. Can nobody fathom the idea that
RFID's could be used for such purposes? I can. I think we are on
that road now- credit cards have become a main-stay in our
society. Very convienient, and quite often, necessary in order to
transact business.
By and large, "money" is nothing more than an entry in
an electronic ledger. Paper currency doesn't get moved back and
forth between banks, for the most part. When it is, it is for use
in every day life- for people to use at the gas station or
grocery store. That's it. Consider the typical purchase of a
home... does anyone ever actually see the sum of money involved
in the transaction? Nope- it's just a number that gets moved
around in silicon and transfered via fiber optics or copper. Even
checks are now handled electronically. How many stores simply
scan the check and hand it back to you? Most of the
"money" that gets moved back and forth every day from
one institution to the next is all through electronic means.
The banking industry has been doing electronic funds transfers
for ages now. But people as a whole have not been so keen on the
idea. It's taken years and much cajoling to get us where we are
today with credit cards. Now checks are being handled almost in
the exact same fashion as credit cards. And we are used to it,
and even like the process. Very convenient. Much safer than
carrying around large sums of paper currency. Piles of change no
longer weighing down purses and men's pant pockets.
It's just a matter of time. RFID has so much to offer. Multi-use.
Security. Convenience. Efficiency. Satisfaction.
If the monetary policy makers decide to do away with paper
currency, am I not forced to use whatever method they choose to
replace it? If some people choose the method that will eventually
be the replacement, now, and the rest are forced to into it later
on, is it still not possible that the method was evil all along?
What would be the significance of such a change- whereby paper
currency was no longer used to transact business, but databases
and networks, that stored information concerning those
transacting business. As the only means?
There is still much speculating that can be done... what about
3rd world countries that don't have the electronic infrastructure
many developed nations do...
And ofcourse, there is the issue of the language used in the
bible, concerning the mark... many do not believe that an
implantable chip fits the description of the mark itself. But it
sure seems to have the potential to fit the description of what
the mark will be used for- controlling buying and selling.
Going back to the previous comments...
"...because "the" Mark
will require swearing allegience to anti-christ in order to
receive it and that is what damns the person to an
eternal hell...
It doesn't say that, either, unfortunately.
Rev.14
[11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and
ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast
and his image, and whosoever
receiveth the mark of his name.
I don't know if RFID is or isn't the MOTB, or even if it could
be. Maybe others do, but I don't. Even so, I'm not going to find
out by taking one. As a person who believes that privacy and
freedom still count for something, I wouldn't recommend them to
others, either. But I won't stand in the way of those who choose
to get one... that's a choice we all have to make for ourselves. ---- xajk

with "digital ink," millions of microscopic capsules
the size of a human hair with organic material that display light
or dark images in response to electrical charges
The New York Times plans to take part in a trial

The International Herald Tribune,
which is owned by The New York Times Co., is also in discussions
to make subscriptions available this year with the Philip
Electronics-made iRex Technologies devices that the
Belgian newspaper is testing, according to Michael Golden,
publisher of the IHT
De Tijd, with 40,000 readers in Belgium, is
testing a device called the iLiad eReader, which
is the creation of iRex, the Philips spinoff. IRex partnered with
E Ink, a Massachusetts-based team of chemists and engineers that
developed the microcapsule technology. De Tijd is basically
fitting its traditional print format to the devices screen, not
changing the style of its newspaper
Meanwhile, IFRA, based in Darmstadt,
